Dormitory Regulations

Article 1. Purpose

The purpose of this and the following Articles is to stipulate the rules that residents must comply with while they stay in the Dormitory, as promised in their written oaths submitted during the move-in process.

Article 2. Scope of Application

These Dormitory Regulations shall apply equally to all residents of Anam Dormitory and shall remain in effect from the date of move-in until the date of move-out. All residents of Anam Dormitory must comply with the provisions set forth in these Regulations from the first day of residence. Any resident who violates these Regulations shall be subject to the demerit points and disciplinary actions, including expulsion, as prescribed herein.

Article 3. Student ID Card

Residents must use their personal access cards to enter the dormitory by tagging them on the entrance system. All access cards of Anam Dormitory are strictly non-transferable and may not be lent to others. In case of a lost access card, a replacement must be obtained at the resident’s own expense. Temporary access cards must be returned to the security office within 2 days of issuance. Access cards must be returned immediately upon withdrawal from the dormitory.

Article 4. Overnight Leave

Residents of Anam Dormitory may take overnight leave during their period of residence, without limitation on the number of occurrences. Nonetheless, any period of absence resulting from overnight leave shall not be eligible for refund.

Article 5. Prohibition of Unauthorized Entry by Non-Residents

Residents are not allowed to bring outsiders into common areas or individual rooms without permission. However, temporary or limited access may be granted if separate authorization is obtained for a legitimate reason. Hosting outsiders overnight shall be subject to disciplinary measures in accordance with [Appendix 1] Anam Dormitory Demerit Table.

Article 6. Room Assignment

Room assignments are made by the Administrative Team under the direction of the Dormitory Director, and once assigned, rooms may not be changed arbitrarily by residents’ mutual agreement. Residents may request a room change once per residence period solely for reasons related to a roommate’s physical characteristics (e.g., snoring, teeth grinding). Once a room change has been made, no further requests may be submitted during the same residence period. Residents are obligated to engage in sufficient discussion and consultation with their roommates. In cases where a room change is necessary due to differences in lifestyle, hygiene habits, or conflicts with a roommate, residents may apply for a room change (limited to once per residence period) following a consultation with the Residential Assistant.

Article 7. Residential Supervision

The Dormitory Manager and Residential Assistants may provide guidance to ensure the safe and orderly dormitory life of residents. They may conduct interviews, offer guidance, and provide communal living education to Anam Dormitory residents, and may impose corrective measures or disciplinary actions upon detecting violations of the regulations.

Article 8. Demerit Point(s)

The Dormitory Director may impose the following disciplinary actions on residents who receive demerit points. Demerit points are calculated on an accumulative basis (including both the first and second semesters). 1. Warning: Issued when accumulated demerit points reach 7 or more, or in cases where a single violation is deemed severe. 2.Expulsion: a.For violations corresponding to expulsion under "Article 17 of the Anam Dormitory Regulations" and the [Appendix 1] Anam Dormitory Demerit Point Table. b.When 3 or more additional demerit points are incurred after a warning has been issued. c.For residents whose accumulated demerit points reach 10 or more. 3.Immediate Eviction: For violations specified under the Immediate eviction category in [Appendix 1] Anam Dormitory Demerit Point Table. Residents who are expelled must vacate the dormitory within 3 days from the date of the expulsion decision. However, residents with physical disabilities or illnesses may vacate within 7 days from the date of the expulsion decision. Residents who are subject to immediate expulsion are not eligible for re-admission to Anam Dormitory. However, residents expelled due to cumulative demerit points may apply for re-admission after one year from the date of expulsion. Matters related to demerit points shall be governed by [Appendix 1] Anam Dormitory Demerit Point Table.

Article 9. Merit Point(s)

Residents who have made notable contributions to safety and communal living may be awarded merit points in accordance with [Appendix 2] Anam Dormitory Merit Point Table. Residents with demerit points may offset their demerits with earned merit points. However, this provision shall not apply in cases involving actions that warrant immediate expulsion. Merit points are intended solely for the purpose of offsetting demerit points. Therefore, even if the total combined score of merit and demerit points exceeds zero, it shall not be reflected in the criteria for the selection of enrolled students.

Article 10. Room Inspection

Room inspections are conducted for the purposes of maintaining dormitory cleanliness and order, preventing fires, and checking facilities, and may be carried out on an as-needed basis. Residents are obliged to actively participate in and cooperate with room inspections to establish and maintain order in communal living spaces. As a general rule, room inspections shall be conducted when residents are present in their rooms. However, inspections may be conducted even if residents are absent under the following circumstances, provided that the time and purpose are notified in advance: 1. When prior consent for an absence inspection has been obtained from the residents of the room. 2. When residents are absent during a pre-announced room inspection period. 3. When residents refuse to comply with the room inspection without valid reason despite being present. In the following cases, room inspections may be conducted without prior notice of time or purpose: In urgent situations requiring immediate action, such as facility emergencies, fires, safety accidents, or security issues. Items allowed and prohibited within Anam Dormitory shall comply with [Appendix 3] Anam Dormitory Permitted and Prohibited Items List. To prevent fire hazards, the import and possession of electrical devices not authorized are strictly prohibited. Authorized electrical devices may be used only after reporting to the Residential Assistant. Prohibited items shall, as a rule, be disposed of or sent back to the owner’s home. Proof of disposal or shipment (e.g., courier receipt or disposal photograph) must be submitted to the Residential Assistant for the action to be recognized as completed. If a resident intentionally or negligently loses or damages dormitory facilities or equipment, compensation shall be made in accordance with "Article 21, Paragraph 2 of the Anam Dormitory Regulations."

Article 11. Room Cleaning and Maintenance

Residents are required to clean their own rooms and are responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of their individual rooms. Residents must faithfully comply with disease prevention measures necessary for communal living. In the event of illness, residents must seek immediate treatment, and all associated medical expenses, including emergency services such as ambulance calls, shall be borne by the resident. In the case of a legally designated infectious disease, residents must report it immediately, and depending on the situation, may be subject to emergency expulsion from the dormitory.

Article 12. Disaster Prevention and Emergency Evacuation Training

Residents are obligated to actively participate in all disaster preparedness drills conducted during pre-announced periods to prepare for potential emergencies. Residents must exercise caution to prevent damage resulting from natural disasters, and any property loss caused by negligence shall be the responsibility of the resident.

Article 13. Noise Control

Residents must comply with the following provisions and actively cooperate in maintaining a conducive academic environment at Anam Dormitory: Exercise utmost care to minimize noise so as not to disturb others. Maintain quiet from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM the following morning.

Residents must immediately remove items subject to a corrective order, with a deadline of one day. 2. Items left in common areas may be disposed of at the discretion of the dormitory. Residents are solely responsible for any loss or damage to items stored in common areas.

Article 15. Securing Room Doors

Residents must ensure that room doors are properly secured when leaving the dormitory to prevent theft, loss, or other incidents. Residents are responsible for properly storing their personal belongings to prevent theft, and shall bear responsibility for any loss resulting from their own negligence.

Article 16. End-of-Term Withdrawal

Residents must complete the check-out procedures within the designated time on the scheduled end-of-term departure date, leaving no personal belongings in their assigned rooms and ensuring that the rooms are cleaned before vacating. Failure to clean the room prior to departure shall result in disciplinary action in accordance with [Appendix 1] Anam Dormitory Demerit Point Table.
